An interactive page for Nikki's Home Gathering

I created this page for Nikki's home show last weekend but am planning to multi-purpose a non-interactive version for our upcoming Baby Milestone workshop.

This page is entitled "Best Buds" and I thought it would be absolutely adorable as a sibling page or cousins or a child with pet. Or, even to celebrate grown-up best friends! I used the You Rock paper packet (which is retiring at the end of the year, much to my everlasting dismay!!!) The layout is from the new Magic Interactive book. I actually added two interactive elements to it.

The first is this file folder-style photo mat. To get the look we folded an 8" x 6" piece of cardstock in half to 4" x 6". We attached the bottom of the folded cardstock to the layout and let the other half flap open. We then inserted the page into the page protector and cut around the file folder to allow viewer to open the flap.

This second page, which I gave to Nikki as a gift for hosting, is also interactive. It features a vertical 6 photo storage page cut in half and then accordian folded to hold 6 photos (3 on each side). I then attached the storage page to the page protector with brads and added a photo clip to help keep the accodian fold in place until you're ready to view the pictures.

As I mentioned earlier, this page will come back as a sibling page in the Baby Milestone workshop, which we plan to unviel SOON! In the workshop it will be non-interactive but you can easily add these elements yourself.

Enjoy!

You are My Sunshine

If this page were to win any type of a competition, it would be "most hours put into a page". My friend, Marla, and I spent many hours over the span of five days working on this little treasure. I started with a concept and CTMH's new Splendor paper packet (probably my favorite EVER) but I really wanted sewing on the page. Alas, I cannot sew. That's where Marla came in . . . sewing coordinator and layout consultant.

And, to be fair, I need to credit Jessica for the help with the lettering of the titles and both her and Emilia for advice in general. Fortunately, they didn't let the Sangria do the talking and I think we ended up with a pretty good page. Here you can see some of the details of Marla's sewing . . . every sun ray has a zig zag stitch as well and just about every other piece of paper has a straight stitch. I am proud to report that I did do one little bit myself - the running stitch on the clouds and rainbow.

I hope many of you get to see this page in person because I'm in love and it always looks better when you see it face-to-face.

May you all have a sun-shiney day!

It's a Miracle (that I've got all these pages and cards done!)

I just love the Close to My Heart's new "Miracle" scrapbook kit, which was designed for the upcoming National Scrapbooking Month in May. (To find out how to get yours in a few weeks, see my sidebar information.)

This kit has been packaged with instructions for two scrapbook layouts. For mine I choose to use pictures of my new niece, Sydney, as the papers are so soft and cozy - just like she is. It still needs some journalling done but I want my sister to do that part.

The butterflies, frames, brackets, etc. are "irresistable" chipboard . . . I simply sponged my accent color of choice on them and an embossed pattern resisted the ink to make a pattern in the chipboard. There was also a page of beautiful Stickese and an entire packet of mini-midley accents. Oh, and my favorite - Flip Flaps! PLUS, I had enough paper leftover to make some gorgeous cards! I finished six last night but I could have made at least another two with the leftover paper . . .

Sorry for the blurry pictures. My camera is broken so I'm borrowing my sister's old one. Even at that, I have to admit it was practically the middle of the night when I took them and I didn't really care about clarity at the time.

Anyway, my kids are off of school for the rest of the week and driving me a little bonkers. I'm SOOOOOO looking forward to the new catalogs coming today - just in time for a nice quiet time for everyone in their rooms :)

I hope YOU can enjoy the rest of your week!

Loving the new Felicity Papers!

Hello friends!

A week or so ago I posted a layout entitled "Stamping is for the birds", using paper from the Felicity Paper Pack which is on special through the end of January. These two following layouts are also from the Felicity paper pack . . . my new favorite!!! Both of these layouts are pretted much CASE'd from the inspiration sheet that comes in the pack.

This first layout I made for my sister as a baby shower gift for her baby's baptism. I changed the colors slightly to make them more girly and kept off the photo mats so I can eventually put Flip Flaps on the second page to allow for lots more pictures.

This second layout I made for her baby book as well, but I intend to recreate for my kids pumpkin patch pictures this past fall as well. This page has so many awesome little details; however, I think I'm going to use a stitch stamp for theirs as the hand stitching is soooo time consuming.

Remember, if you love this paper kit as much as I do, it's only available through January!! The price is $34.95 and in includes a D-size stamp set! For more information or to find out how you can earn it for free, check the right hand column of my blog.

The Story of Anna's Birth

I wanted to share this layout with all of you because even though it's from February, it's still one of my very favorite layouts. It features pictures of my youngest daughter, Anna, right after her birth in February of 2008, smack dab in the middle of the super bowl and the night before my February hostess clubs were to meet! Despite the fact that her early birth was a bit of an inconvenience, we were happy to have her a week early.

I know many scrapbookers aren't into journalling, but being the verbose English major that I am, journalling is a must for me. I'm proud to have this play-by-play story recorded for Anna to treasure when she gets older. Even if it's just a little handwritten note, I believe we should be journalling on every page!

I hope you enjoy!
